Bio:
His interest and love for music began at a very young age from listening and looking at his father play music as a DJ, build Speaker cabinets, configure PA systems and repair electronics. When he was tall enough, he started practicing on his dad’s turntables and he even tried setting up his own little sound system from old radio parts; also from his dad’s electronics repair shop. By his early teens, he already understood enough to start helping friends setup their home and car stereo systems, doing electronic repairs and also building car stereo speaker boxes.
While in high school, he started learning to play guitar and keyboards but decided to stick to playing keyboards and later played in a band for a while also assisting as an engineer. Upon graduating from high school, he was awarded, top student in wood work and carpentry and received a scholarship to study Furniture making and Designing in Indonesia. After returning from Indonesia, he got a job as Production Manager and Designer at one of Grenada’s top furniture manufacturers, which was great for a while until one day he decided he wants to make a change in career due to health reasons. In doing so, he ventured into the trades of welding and photography. He nurtured these new skills and later established his own welding and fabricating workshop, Glen’s Welding Works; while working part time as an intern at one of Grenada’s leading photo studios. He continued molding his talent in photography and his efforts were rewarded with a Certificate of Excellence and started working full time as a Photographer and lab Technician with that same company, while training others to work full time in his workshop.
After some years working at the photo studio, he was offered a job as a Teacher/Instructor in Furniture making and Designing, Wood work and Carpentry by The Grenada Ministry of Education. This was a new and challenging opportunity which eventually became his full time profession. He however found time to support his other talents; stopping in after work at his welding workshop and freelancing as a photographer.
Amidst his professional commitments, his passion for sound and music never faded; DJing, making mix tapes, mastering, remixing, and rigging sound systems. He juggled all these responsibilities for a number of years after which he decided he wanted to start his own photo studio. In establishing and operating Photovison; he had to relinquish some of his other obligations. This resulted in the sale of his welding workshop and later resigning from teaching due to the demands of the studio. While managing his photo studio, he started investing in his love for sound and music; working with various artists in production, CD production, duplication, CD inserts, graphic designing and mastering. With all the knowledge, experience and demands for his expertise, he was propelled to start a music and accessory store, distribution and production company named D Music Centre. At this point his growth and success was on an upward spiral, he started DJing on one of the top local radio stations, also producing, managing and engineering that mix show. He also became part owner and worked as a DJ, Producer and Sound Engineer for Kevlartone Sound based in Brooklyn, New York. The company was renamed Kevlartone International as the Grenadian branch but later became the company’s main name. Upon joining the company, he did numerous productions, remixes and engineered most of their dubplates together with some of his own remixes which is still played and heard all over the globe.
His growth continued to unfold in the entertainment industry; he later started doing event promotion, artist management and production, participated and hosted Sound clashes/DJ battles, Parties and other musical events. He also went on to be Assistant Manager, DJ and Sound Engineer at one of the popular night clubs in Grenada putting on an promoting numerous events.
In his aim for greater success, he decided to dissolve his businesses and immigrate to Toronto, Canada. While integrating himself in the new environment he continued the brand DJ Geezy G and Kevlartone International, playing and performing across the Toronto. After getting more settled and established in the big city, he started hosting his own parties and events in downtown Toronto, which involved producing, setting up, configuring, engineering the PA system himself and performing as a DJ. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 he was awarded first runner up in the Toronto Annual Sound Clash/DJ battle as Kevlartone International; in 2011 second runner up in the G.T.A Cup Sound Clash/DJ battle and in winter 2010/2011 he had the opportunity to travel overseas and participate in several shows in Europe, USA and Northern Canada. Since 2009 he has been setting up, engineering, maintaining PA/Sound System and performing as a DJ for the annual Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival. In 2012 he resigned from Kevlartone International and currently works with and a member of City Flame; a DJ Project and Sound Company in Toronto.
With all the experience he has in the sound and music industry and diverse capabilities, he decided to upgrade his resume by attending the Recording Arts Canada - Digital Arts College, and in August 2013 graduated with a Diploma and the top honors in Music Recording and Sound Engineering.
As of date, August 2013, he has worked with the up and coming Alternative Rock band, Noise Floor. He is currently the Producer and Sound Engineer at Badjam’s Studio, Ajax, Ontario and is in discussions with a few artists from Grenada, Toronto and other countries but, is looking forward to working with bands or solo artists of different styles/genres and budgets from across the globe in studio or live environment.
At this point the sky is the limit for him.
